Orange Rotary is at the Orange Country Fair every year running the Amber Alert program.
AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to nine-year old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. The AMBERAlert System started in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters partnered with local law enforcement to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children.
The AMBERAlert Child ID program is a voluntary program for all children under the age of 18. The parent/guardian of participating children will receive a wallet-sized, laminated card with a photo of the child, a unique AMBERAlert number and only minimal, yet essential information needed to find a child in the event the child is abducted. The encrypted information is sent to a secured National AMBERAlert date base. Multiple AMBER ID cards are available.
As part of Orange Rotary's committment to the town of Orange, and especailly to its children, we take literally hundreds of picture each year at the fair and other venues.
This year, we were also at the Bethany Harvest Festival for the first time. We are available to help other groups as well in this important undertaking. Use the contact us feature to reach us.
