Orange Rotary Prepares for the Annual Lobsterfest


The Annual Orange Rotary Lobsterfest is scheduled for Saturday, August 10, 2013 at High Plains Community Center, 525 Orange Center Road, Orange, CT.  Dinner will be served between 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

 

Dinner choices of Twin Lobsters or Steak, Clam Chowder, Corn-On-The-Cob, Cole Slaw, wtih roll & Butter.  The Cost is $40.00 per Adult.  Kids menu consisting of Hamburger or Hot Dog & Sides is only $7.00.

 2013 Lobsterfest

 

 

Annual Charity Auction

 

The Orange Rotary Club will be having its 19th Annual Auction to benefit its’ Charitable Foundation on Friday, March 15th. The event will be held at Race Brook Country Club, beginning at 6:30 p.m.; tickets are $37.50 each. The evening will include a Dinner Buffet, Live and Silent Auction, and a Balloon Raffle. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Auction Chair Carl Russell at (203)783-9999 or crussell@hpearce.com or through any Orange Rotarian. Area businesses are invited to donate goods or services to help Rotary carry out its charitable endeavors.

 

 

All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting Orange Rotary's initiatives both locally and abroad; the club contributes over $30,000 annually. Locally, they provide dictionaries to every third grader in Orange, register area children in the Amber Alert ID Program and make donations for the town food pantry and energy assistance program. The last three years they have participated in “Operation Warm” and have donated thousands of coats to area schools and shelters to help keep underprivileged kids warm. Additionally, the club awards $6,000 in college scholarships annually to high school seniors from Orange.  

 

Busy December!

 

The month leading up to the 2012 Holiday Season has been very active for the members of the Rotary Club of Orange. In a two week span, the club completed its

1. Operation Warm Project,

2. Distributed Dictionaries to Orange Public School 3rd Grade Classes, and

3. Honored Ned Martin as the Orange Rotary Club's Norman K Parsells 2012 Award Recipient

If that is not enough.. The Rotary Club of Orange will begin planning for the 2013 Rotary Auction to held this coming March!  Discussions will begin at this Friday's Luncheon.  


 

2012 Rotary Scholarships Awarded to 3 Amity High Schools Students

 

The Rotary Club of Orange is pleased to announce that they have distributed scholarships to the following Amity High School Students;  

  • Alex DeAngelo, Amity High School - Alex will attend Post University, Majoring in Sports Management, 
  • Christina Celone, Amity High School - Christina will attend Fairfield University, Majoring in Nursing, and 
  • Courtney Keating, Amity High School - Courtney will attend Hofstra University, Majoring in Film.

Orange Rotary Past President, Diane Eger said, “This is our 12th year providing scholarships to young, deserving students of our area high schools.  This year, the Rotary Club of Orange was able to provide college scholarships to three students from Amity High School.  The Orange Rotary Club's motto is "Service Before Self" and by honoring these students in this fashion, we believe we are helping these young individuals to experience life to its fullest through education.”


Applications for the 2013 - 2014 Scholarships are due by April 30, 2013.  In making its’decisions, the scholarship committee will take into consideration financial need, scholastic accomplishments and community involvement. Any student who resides in Orange and is a US citizen is eligible to apply. Applications are available at the guidance offices of the following schools:

1. Amity High School,

2. Notre Dame,

3. Laurelton Hall,

4. Platt Tech, 

5. Sacred Heart Academy, and

6. Hopkins.

Town of Orange Receives Van from Orange Rotarians 

 

On Friday, May 11, 2012, the Town of Orange Senior Services Department hosted their 6th Annual Living Treasures Award.  Three longtime Orange Residents received the Living Treasurers Award including our own Joseph Cuzzocreo.

After the Living Treasures cermony the Orange Rotarians, Town Leaders and Orange Senior Center unveiled the brand new 2012 Chrysler Town and Country which was donated by the Rotary Club of Orange.
